Prof. Dr. Ir. Abubakar, M.S. completed his undergraduate degree (S1) in Soil Science at Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh, then continued his master’s degree (S2) in Soil Science at Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Bogor. He also earned his doctoral degree (S3) in the same program, namely Soil Science at IPB. With a consistent and in-depth academic background, he is known to be active in the field of soil science, covering studies on soil management, soil fertility, and its use to support sustainable agriculture and natural resource management.

Prof. Dr. Ir. Abubakar., MS. research focuses on sustainable agriculture and land use management, particularly in the context of coffee production and other crops in Indonesia. He examines the impact of environmental factors like soil properties, elevation, and shading on crop yields, with a special emphasis on Arabica coffee. His work includes developing sustainable agricultural models for crops such as palm oil and citronella, considering the economic, social, and environmental factors that influence their viability. Prof. Abubakar also investigates soil fertility, soil conservation, and land suitability to optimize land use while promoting long-term environmental sustainability. He is currently leading Coffee and Cacao Research Center of Syiah Kuala University.
